The South Australian Space Industry Centre (through Defence SA) is committed to supporting reconciliation as a means of improving the outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The agency’s December 2022 to December 2023 Reconciliation Action Plan focuses on developing meaningful, impactful, practical and sustainable outcomes creating a genuine understanding of the need for reconciliation.
Since 2006, Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs) have provided a framework for organisations to leverage their structures and diverse spheres of influence to support the national reconciliation movement. The program’s potential for impact is greater than ever, with close to 3 million people now working or studying in an organisation with a RAP.
Defence SA joins a network of more than 1,100 corporate, government, and not-for-profit organisations that have made a formal commitment to reconciliation through the RAP program.
The agency has begun its reconciliation journey by developing a Reflect RAP out of a desire for meaningful progress towards reconciliation. The RAP focusses on meaningful words and actions that enable progression towards reconciliation.
The Reflect RAP is aligned with the South Australian Space Industry Centre and Defence SA’s reconciliation objectives and engagement with First Nation stakeholders.
