At Adelaide Rover Team, we seek to inspire the next generation of Australia’s space industry and provide students with technical experience that will advance their career aspirations. We welcome students from all year levels and disciplines, both undergraduates and postgraduates, with expertise ranging across engineering, science, software, mathematics, business, finance, media, and many more disciplines.

The Adelaide Rover Team aspires to lead the group of competitive universities from around the world, which Adelaide hosts every year for the Australian Rover Challenge.

Expertise and Capabilities

The Adelaide Rover Team is a multidisciplinary, student-led initiative based at Adelaide University, committed to bridging academic learning with real-world aerospace and defence industry applications. Our primary objective is the design, development, and deployment of a functional lunar rover for participation in the Australian Rover Challenge, an international competition attracting leading university teams from across the globe.

Our team integrates knowledge across engineering, sciences, and business disciplines to foster innovation. Through iterative design cycles, systems engineering practices, and hands-on prototyping, we are cultivating the next generation of professionals with practical competencies for the future of South Australia in space.

Unique Selling Points

The Adelaide Rover Team is able to work with domestic and international companies within the Adelaide University’s EXTERRES Analogue Facility – a multi-purpose research facility enabling the development and commercialisation of remotely operated and autonomous robotic technologies for the Space and Agriculture sectors.

We equip students with industry-relevant skills, professional networks, and project-based experience, providing pathways into the defence and space sectors.

As key contributors to the Australian Rover Challenge, we position Adelaide University and its students at the forefront of global rover innovation and international academic competition.

We welcome students of all academic levels and backgrounds, providing inclusive opportunities to gain space-sector experience, regardless of prior expertise or study area.
