On Thursday 21 September 2017, Premier Jay Weatherill and Minister for Defence and Space Industries officially launched the new South Australian Space Industry Centre (SASIC).
The new centre is set to build upon the work done by Defence SA’s Space and International R&D Collaborations team and will take ownership of progressing SA’s space strategy. The SASIC team will sit within Defence SA and report directly to the Defence SA Chief Executive.
Premier Weatherill said, “SASIC will deliver opportunities for manufacturers to transition to a high growth sector, enable start-ups to flourish, and create jobs of the future”.
