Saab has launched a new Australian-built, cloud-based software platform developed at Lot Fourteen in Adelaide that enables users to monitor, understand and respond to activity in space.

The Allied Mission System (AMS) combines space domain awareness, mission management and command-and-control capabilities in a single, open-architecture system. Designed and built in South Australia for deployment globally, it brings together data from multiple sensors and sources to support faster, more informed decisions.

The platform performs automated analysis, helping operators to coordinate assets, task systems and manage missions in the increasingly congested space domain.

The system’s modular architecture allows data services, mission services and applications to evolve independently, supporting the rapid integration of emerging technologies to counter evolving threats.

Saab Australia Managing Director Andy Keough said the platform responds to the growing reliance on space and demonstrates the company’s commitment to ongoing sovereign capability development.

“Almost everything we do relies on space in some way and we have designed our new AMS platform to give the user the capability to act in this highly congested and contested domain,” said Mr Keough.

“This innovative and purpose driven technology leverages Saab’s experience delivering trusted multidomain command and control systems and exemplifies our commitment to ongoing sovereign capability development”.

Developed by Saab’s space team at Lot Fourteen, AMS draws on local research and development expertise and the company’s more than 35 years of experience delivering capability to the Australian Defence Force.

Minister for Defence and Space Industries Chris Picton said the platform demonstrates South Australia’s growing capability to develop advanced space technologies.

“South Australia is the home of the nation’s space industry and Saab’s AMS demonstrates the advanced technologies being developed right here in SA,” said Minister Picton.

AMS reflects the growing role South Australian companies are playing in developing advanced technologies for domestic and international markets. Developed within the collaborative innovation ecosystem at Lot Fourteen, the platform demonstrates how local research, industry expertise and defence experience can be combined to create sovereign capability while creating export opportunities.
