The latest product release by South Australian space company Fleet Space Technologies is set to revolutionise mineral exploration, proving once again how space innovation can help solve real-world challenges.
A first-of-its-kind system, GeoSphere by Fleet, combines wireless Geodes, cloud processing and a constellation of low Earth orbit (LEO) nanosatellites to locate critical resources up to 100 times faster than traditional methods.
On top of this, it will also reduce the need for environmentally damaging methods currently used such as explosives, noise machines and drilling.
Co-Founder of Fleet Space Technologies, Matt Pearson, said the world is rapidly moving towards green energy and cleaner industrial operations, of which GeoSphere is proud to be a part of.
“In GeoSphere we have created the answer by unlocking the power of global connectivity through Fleet’s network of small satellites. They are already in operation in tandem with revolutionary non-invasive probes that rapidly scan beneath the earth to identify sources of these critical resources,” said Mr Pearson.
“This removes the need for invasive drilling practices, significantly reduces cost and can speed up discoveries more than one hundred-fold.”
This method of observation is already in action, having been tested and utilised in Australia’s South East, and was utilised to unobtrusively image regional structures and faulting to target a geothermal reservoir.
