The South Australian Space Industry Centre is supporting the state’s emerging space industry by providing funding to grow jobs and build South Australia’s space ecosystem through the Space Innovation Fund.

The Fund is responsible for invigorating South Australia’s space innovation ecosystem by supporting promising entrepreneurs, new start-ups and early stage businesses to scale-up and activate their ideas.

About the Fund

The Space Innovation Fund aims to support potential entrepreneurs and start-ups providing a pathway for post-graduate innovators and entrepreneurs to:

  • develop expertise and build knowledge in specialist space related fields of study
  • develop entrepreneurial ideas in order to bring them to market
  • rapidly develop their technology, build channels to market and pitch for investment by tapping into global networks of mentors, investors, and corporate partners.

The Space Innovation Fund will help entrepreneurs and promising early-stage companies to seize commercial opportunities in the $424 billion a year global space economy through the funding of a range of space programs and initiatives. This includes:

Young entrepreneurs and engineers will be given the opportunity to take their innovative concept to the next level. Up to five space scholarships will be offered each year, with a maximum of $20,000 awarded for each scholarship. Please click here for more details.

Venture Catalyst Space is a highly competitive incubator program which supports founders of new start-ups to nurture and grow innovative ideas in the space sector. Delivered through the University of South Australia’s Innovation and Collaboration Centre (ICC), the program includes a series of workshops, mentoring from expert advisors, and funding of up to $10,000 per company as well as the opportunity to pitch for a sponsored overseas tour to the United States or Europe to network with relevant space investors and companies. The program is designed as a precursor to the Space Accelerator Program.
